Additional Neutral Tips

Neutral is the game state where neither you or your opponent is at a strict advantage. An example of this is at the start of the match, where both you and your opponent are on equal footing and you are both looking to land a hit on each other. Neutral is the most important game state you need to learn when learning a new character. There is no point in having a good advantage state if you don't know how to actually land your combo starters on your opponent.

Each character plays Neutral differently. Wario lacks the good approach options that most characters lean on in order to force interactions, so his neutral is a lot more campy than most characters. But if Wario can't approach and force interactions, how does Wario actually land hits? The answer lies in Wario's down special, Waft. Waft is an incredibly strong move that charges up passively over the course of a match. This means that if your opponent tries to camp Wario back, they run the risk of dying really early to a waft confirm. So any opponent that faces Wario is forced to approach in order to try get a big enough lead on Wario before Waft becomes a big factor. Good Wario players know this, and utilize this fact to play a Bait and Punish Neutral

A Bait and Punish Neutral as suggested in its name, is where you Bait your opponents into commiting to an option like an attack or defensive option and then Punish the end lag of said option. Since opponents are forced to approach Wario most of the time, it is very easy for Wario to use his excellent movement to catch any commitment his opponent makes. Your job as Wario in Neutral is to poke with your safe tools like down-tilt and forward air while using your air movement to weave in and out of your opponent's attack range in order to bait them into a commitment. Then, when they do commit, you hard punish them with one of Wario's combos.
